There is a drain pan in HVAC systems to collect and redirect the moisture removed from the air. The new system requires multiple designs and improvements to the prototype drain pan in order to verify the fit and functionality before making the final design. Solution
Daikin used a Stratasys large-format F770 FDM 3D printing to prototype the drain pans in-house using ABS thermoplastic material. This allowed engineers to iterate and complete the design much faster before sending the final configuration for injection molded production.
